Organization:
1/2 Field
One large goal and three or four counter goals set up on the halfway line
Six defenders - set up in a back four and two central midfield players
Eight attackers - four players start inside set up in a front three and one central midfielder
Instructions:
The defending team start each sequence building out the back 6v4 - objective is to score in one of the small counter goals. Players must be past the markers to score.
If the attacking team wins the ball they play 8v6 to goal - players behind the counter goals come into the game if their is a change of possession. If the defending team scores building out the back the coach calls a number and one of the attacking players drives in on the dribble or passes in to start the counter attack.
Coaching Points:
Pressing from the front - how to shift and close space
Building out the back - shape, mobility, movement to get open and play forward, combinations to break pressure
Attacking Transition - runs ahead of the ball - creating numbers up situations to play behind opponent
Defensive Transition - counter pressure - react and close quickly, ability to slow down opponent and reorganize
Progressions:
Coach can start the exercise by passing or playing a ball inside the area when movement breaks down - creating a different trigger.

SSG - Flying Changes (25 mins)
THE SESSION: 18x30yds
Small Sided Game - Flying Changes 3v3
Divide players into 4 teams of 3-5 depending on #'s. 2 teams play 3v3 on field while the other 2 teams are waiting on endline. If blue team scores, red team exits the endline they defended & the yellow team on that end brings a ball to attack the blue team. Ball out of bounds on sideline, normal throw in. If Red teams scores on blue team, blue exits the endline where the green team is & the green team then enters field & attacks the red team. If ball exits the endline without scoring, whoever touched it last exits the field & the team on that endline enters. Ie( if red shoots & misses & the ball exits on the endline the red team would exit & the green team enter & the blue would turn to defend them coming on.
Play 5 minute games, then change up teams.
KEY MESSAGES:
-Look out for transition and how players counter attack
- Do we have #'s & is the timing right? Have we created an inbalance?
-Compete
-Communication
-Can you play forward quickly? How? [dribble=space or 1v1, pass=options forward; runs off ball, beak line with1st touch] Why?
-Creative Play
-Goals-Goals-Goals!
