Organisation
2 teams.
Team of 7 working as the defenders (White)
Team of 5 working as the attackers (orange)
Objectives:
-5 defenders aim to maintain the ball in the first 1/2 of the grid against 4 orange attackers.
-Once attackers steal position they look for a ball through to the lone attack in the 2/2 of the grid. On losing possession defenders passitively press.
-3 attackers join lone striker in 2/2 of the grid to make a 4 v 2
-On losing possession 3 attackers retreat to starting grid, defenders field ball back into the 1/2 5 defenders

Team of 6 working as the defenders (White)
Team of 6 working as the attackers (orange)
Defenders to work as a back 4 with 2CDM
Attackers to work as 2 CDM with 4 attackers
Objectives.
-Players are free to move within the marked area but must stick to the brief within their positioning.
-Wide attacker can step outside the grid into the channel unapossed during an attack. Defenders must work in the confines of the grid at all times.
Coaching Points:
-Defenders to work narrow in within the grid reducing the space between each man. CDM's to provide defensive cover under attack, but be positive in attack supported by the fullbacks.
-Attackers to work as a 2-3-1 formation. Looking to work opportunities off of the focal striker who is to work on the last man. A CDM to work
-Attackers to be mindful of defensive reponsibilities when losing possession, manage that high press.

Coach starting play for the attackers
Defenders
- 2 Lanes set up as above.
- Zones on the pitch for the back 4 to remain compact at all times.
- The back 4 must shuffle as appropriate if the ball goes out wide.
- If FB leaves the zone to engage the opposition winger ball side CB shuffles over, other CB also enters the ball side zone and the opposite FB tucks over accordingly.
- 2 CDM's to work positional with the defenders
- When the back 4 or 2 CM's win the ball they have 5 seconds to play into 1 of the 3 target goals on the half way line.-
Attackers-
To work as a 2-3-1 attacking the goal.
On losing possession, to manage the press to regain the ball
Coach to work as a CB for the attackers, and restart play should the ball go out of play
Coaching Points
- Defence to remain compact
- When to drop and when the squeeze play is alway important.
- When to drop off = when the white CM has his head up
- When to squeeze play = when the white CM has his head down
- If one CB goes to win the ball the other defenders must be dropping anticipating the ball going over the CB and covering around / behind.
- CB's dont let 2 CM's sit on your toes by being too deep.
Key Factors
- Pressure, cover and balance
- Starting position of back 4 (NOT too deep)
- CB communicate to 2 CM's on positioning
- Stay narrow and compact
- Positive starting position for GK, on front foot to cut out through balls
- Dont sit too deep, squeeze the play when possible.
* Opposition head down - squeeze play
* Opposition head up - drop off - if appropriate.
Defending Key Points

- Who, when and where is pressure, cover and balance applied
