Football/Soccer Session (Beginner): Shooting: Skill

Shooting: Skill (20 mins)

Organisation:

30x20yd area split into 2 15x20yd areas with a goal at opposite ends.

Players split into two groups and 2 gk's

Ball per player.

Instructions:

To start 1 player from the red team passes the ball to the player at point B and runs onto the lay off takes a touch past the cones and shoots.

As soon as he shoots the player from the white team passes the ball to the player at point B in his area and runs onto the lay off takes a touch past the cones and shoots.

However the red player who has just shot becomes the defender and puts pressure on and tries to prevent the blue player from scoring.

The white player then becomes the defender

Once you have been a defender you take up a position in the queue at point A

Rotate the players at point B after each player has had the opportunity to attack.

Coaching points:

Get your body in position to strike the ball

Angled approach

Non kicking foot beside the ball

Head over the ball

Select surface and strike Eg laces/inside/outside

Follow through

Aim low and across goal (Accuracy)
