Role of the CDM:
-Always try to be available for a pass from the CB's.
-Move diagonally away from the CB who is playing into the square, to create a problem for the Blue player, to create an opportunity for a diagonal pass forwards, and to give space to the Red CB.
.
Role of The Nearest CM (LCM):
-Double Movement away from the ball then back towards it - Try to lose marker
-Moving wider on the pitch to either create space for himself, or to drag the blue midfielder out wide and create space for a pass straight to the ST's feet
.
Role of the Furthest CM (RCM):
-Moves wider and higher up the pitch, away from the ball - Higher than Blue Marker
-This will give the Blue Midfielder a problem, whether to follow and mark, or hold position.
-Creates the triangle between the Three Central Midfield Players

CB Choices:
-If the Blue Midfielder does not mark the CDM, then the pass needs to be Fizzed in and received on the back foot ready to play forwards
-If the Blue Midfielder does go and mark the CDM, then the CB can step in with the ball and play a different Midfielder or ST's Feet
.
Important that the Cb steps in with purpose, and has a clear idea in mind of which passes could be available to play

CB Choices:
-If the Blue CM goes and marks our Red LCM, then CB can Step in and Play a different Midfielder or straight to ST's Feet.
-If the Blue CM holds position to stop the pass to ST's Feet, then Red CB can fizz a pass in to LCM who needs to receive Side-On on the Back Foot and Play forward
.
Important that the Cb steps in with purpose, and has a clear idea in mind of which passes could be available to play

CB Choices:
-If Blue CM does not mark Red RCM, then pass can be fizzed in and needs to be received Side-On, on the Back Foot ready to play forward
-If Blue Cm does mark Red RCM, then Cb can step into the field of play and play straight to ST's Feet or other Midfielder.
.
Important that the Cb steps in with purpose, and has a clear idea in mind of which passes could be available to play

Outcomes:
.
Outcome 1:
Blue CM's get dragged out of position by the movements of the Red Midfielders, and our CB can play straight into ST's feet.
.
Outcome 2:
The Blue CM's stay compact and together to prevent pass to ST's Feet, allowing CB's to Play Midfielders on Back Foot - Passes are fizzed in, and we can Play Forward Quickly (Shown Above)
.
Outcome 3:
One Blue CM either gets dragged out of position when the others hold, or holds position when the others get dragged, then the Cb needs to make the right choice, either a pass straight through the Gap Created to the ST's Feet, Or the pass to the Open Red Cm who can play forward

Possible Rotation or Midfield Three When CB's Switch Possession Between Themselves:
.
Left CB plays ball across to Right CB
Rotation Anti-Clockwise of the Midfield Three
.
CDM Moves forwards and then wide with a double movement. He clears the space out just in front of the CB to allow them to step in if they want to.
.
LCM Drops deeper then Slightly Narrower to provide the same Diagonal Passing Angle that CDM was providing for the Left Centre Back
.
RCM Rotates Across the Pitch to Stay as the Furthest CM and provide the Depth high up the pitch and the wide on the opposite side of the Midfield Triangle.
.
This Rotation Is Optional!!
.
If as a Coach you do NOT want your midfielders to rotate, and you want to Keep the Same CDM, then just ask the CDM to Shuffle Across the pitch opposite of the direction the ball travels, to again give the diagonal passing angle. Then The Two CM's swap roles with each other, one moving higher and one moving deeper and wider.

Organisation:
30x40 Area
Red Team:
CB x 2, CDM, CM x 2, ST
Blue Team:
CM x 3
.
Rules:
Ball always starts from Red CB's.
Aim is to get the ball to the Red ST's feet, by playing through the Three Central Midfielders.
Can Play Back to Red CB's to keep possession and allow Red Midfielders to Set Up Again.
Red CB's can Play Across to Each Other Once
Blue team's aim is to win the ball back and play into either Red CB.
.
If Red CB's havent got a clear pass available, then they can step into the field of play with the ball and look for a passing option - They can play direct to ST's Feet
.
CB's can turn back and play to opposite CB if in Trouble - Opposite CB should then be able to play simple pass to Red CDM.
