Description

Todays session will be working on our ability to play out of the back.

Key Phrases

- Building Around The Opposition

- Building Through the Opposition

Player roles

Wide Players - offer a wide option for the CB to play "Around the opposition"

ST - Look to create the top of the diamond to receive the ball at your feet from CBs. If the ball goes to one of our wide players ST has to make their run down the line too drag out the CB

CM - Find pockets of space to underneath the St to create the Up back and Through combination.

CB - Scan the field to see what the opposition is blocking. If the opposition is blocking Central lanes we look to go "AROUND" them with our wide players, if the opposition is blocking wide players we look to play "THROUGH" the Center of the pitch with our CM or ST

Large sided Conditioned game 8 v 7 Building out of the back

Rules

- Attacking team has to get the ball in the red zones before unlocking the other half of the field.

- All players must be over half for the goal to count.

- Defending players must drop and recover if the attacking team successfully builds out. If the defending team wins the ball back they are looking to score on the counter goals in the wide areas.

Player roles

St

- 1st movement

When CBs have the ball the ST has to pin the back line to create the highest point of our diamond and look to receive to feet.

- 2nd Movement

When wide players receive the ball you have to make a diagonal run down the sideline to drag the CB with you into the wide area.

RW/LW

- Receive on the back foot to take a positive first touch forward

- Get our head up to see if the oppositions CB goes with our St down the line. If he does can we look to drive inside with the ball looking to switch the Point of attack to the opposite wide player.
