AREA OF THE FIELD
Middle 1/3 to Final 1/3
SESSION OBJECTIVE
Improve team's ability to recognize and implement attacking patterns of play after building-up to attacking half.
MANAGING THE OPPOSITION IN TRAINING
Guarantee success with limited opposition at first. Progress to game pressure.
TEAM TACTICAL PRINCIPLES
Spread out. Patience and tempo created. Vertical penetration with pass or dribble.
ORGANIZATION:
Half-field. Red reviews attacking patterns in order to unbalance defense and exploit the opponent and unbalance them. All balls initiate from Red's GK. Ball must go sideline-to-sideline with back 6 prior to initiating pattern. All patterns finish with a chance on goal. Blue team looks to shadow and close down passing lanes/options. Red must respect the defenders' positioning and can only play "what's on."
Pattern 1 - "Inside pocket"
Pattern 2 - "Outside-inside"
Pattern 3 - "Up, back through"
Pattern 4 - "9 in the hole" or "find the 9"
2 rounds of 3 minutes per pattern (player rotation each round). 24 minutes.

MANAGING THE OPPOSITION IN TRAINING
Guarantee success with no opposition at first. Progress to game pressure.
TEAM TACTICAL PRINCIPLES
Spread out. Patience and tempo created. Vertical penetration with pass or dribble.
ORGANIZATION:
Half-field. Red and blue pass in their positions unopposed in order to create tempo and flow. After they are activated, play positional games in relevant parts of the field.
Passing warm-up - Back 6 (1,2,3,4,5,6) spread out and move the ball side-to-side without skipping players. Must begin thinking about implementing technical/tactical principles necessary to build into midfield.
Positional Game - Back 6 (1,2,3,4,5,6) vs front 4. Red looks to build and pass/dribble through small gates. Blue looks to win the ball as fast as possible and score in big goal. Can play another player as a stand-in keeper to give that support underneath 4/5.
Passing warm-up - Front 5 (8,10,7,9,11) spread out, triangulate, and move the ball around to create tempo. Must begin thinking about implementing technical/tactical principles necessary to create scoring opportunities.
Positional Game - Front 5 (8,10,7,9,11) vs back 5. Red looks to score in small goals. Blue looks to score in small goals. Encourage immediate pressure on the ball upon loss of possession.
4 rounds of 4 minutes with 1 minute of rest in between rounds. 20 minutes.
