Football/Soccer Session (Beginner): Inside Out

Organization: Up to 12 players, working in pairs;1 ball per pair. 

Instruction Player 1 has the ball and starts outside the circle, Player 2 starts inside. 

“Go!” – Player 2 runs toward Player 1, who serves an aerial ball inside the circle. 

Player 2 controls it with his/her feet before passing it back to Player 1. Player 2 then finds someone else on the outside and repeats. 

“Switch!” – after 1 minute, inside players move to the outside.

Every time you switch have the inside players doing something different. (Pass back with certain foot, two touch; receive with one foot, pass back with the other, one touch volley, chest and volley, headers etc...)

Progression: Instead of passing the ball back to the outside player you received the ball from, players should be encourages to control and turn, to find a new player on the outside who does not have a ball. Pass the ball to them and then find a player on the outside who has a ball to receive from.
