Players now seperated in different groups. To begin with ball is played into the various areas, to players of same color.
They are free to move to between areas as long as each area is occupied.
This allows younger players to get used to utilising the whole area.
Now receiving to play in a direction- I prefer to play forward so this allows for each player to look at receiving the ball to go forward.
Coaching Points-
check both shoulders- not just one.
keeping checking your environment until the ball arrives at players feet( picture changes rapidly)
Ask players to utilise the different ways of receiving shown in warm up( screen 1)
What do you see?
Where is the best option?
What is the best option?
Discuss type of pass- driven, lofted, side foot, curled (inside and out)
Weight of pass.... Speed of play
Ask why players have not played over the middle grid- children will tend to play through the grids ignoring the longer pass.( not every pass is a side footed one)
Progression
Balls played between colors- red pass to yellow, yellow to black , etc .

Progress into game.
Add goals if desired to create directional game.
2 teams with ball against the other team. Team that loses the ball transitions to defending.
Variables- Have 2 teams compete with one defending , and rotate defending team each time on a timer...
