1B receives the ball from the coach and goes for a 1 v 0 against the keeper, once the shot has been fired he becomes the defender as 1R+2R take the ball making it a 2 v 1 as soon as the ball goes dead both Reds become defenders as 2B + 3B join 1B making it a 3 v 2. As soon as the ball goes dead the Blue become defenders and 3R + 4R join 1&2R making it a 4v3 once ball is dead they become defenders 4B+5B join the rest of the Blues in a 5 v 4. Blue team rotates positions every reset.
4 x Min with Terminal feedback in the breaks
The coach is to work with one team and manage the others, in this case I'm working withe the Blue team on how they can work on being out numbered by the Red team when in a 2 v 1, 4 v 3 situation.
Challenge, conditions & Targets
1. If the Blue team win the ball they can counter straight away to score but must retreat to the half way line before the game resumes.
2. Time limit for the blue team to score
3. The Red team will be managed to ensure the realism of the game so the Blue team will be challenged defensively.
4. Limited touches on the ball
5. Play the offside line
Key points
Out of possession
1. Press Quickly
2. Protect the middle
3. Leave the furthest player
4. Show one way- don't let them switch the play.
5. Block the shot
In possession
1. Find the spare player
2. Exploit the numerical advantage
3. Make the pitch big width and depth
4. Fast passes and forward movement
5. Overlap / under lap
6. Decision making (Weight of final pass to set up first time finish)
What to expect.
1. To keep a high tempo the ball needs to be in play quickly, to keep it being realistic after every shot the players must retreat to the half way line before engaging the overloads.
2. Can we force them wide so the overloads is then changed to a 1 v 1 as they are blocking the easy pass.
3. As the numbers become larger can we work as a team and keep our shape and block the middle, leaving the furthest player free
