Football/Soccer Session (Beginner): Ocean Pirates

Ocean Pirates (15 mins)

Ocean Pirates

- Split the players into two teams, or two teams per game if more than one game simultaneously

- Create a pirate ship (area) at either end with sails (tall cones)

- Add an ocean (empty channel in the middle)

- Each team must knock as many sails down using cannonballs (footballs) as they can in the round

- The players may dribble their cannonballs into the ocean to fire, but not onto the opposition ship

- Players may defend the ocean and steal the cannonball to fire back

- The team with the most sails still standing wins

- 2 minute rounds

Easier - Nominate a defender for the channel and/or make the channel deeper and/or wider

Harder - Make the channel shallowerand/or narrower

Technical Points:

- Reconginise when to press a player in the channel

- Maintain position between player and sails

- Look to block the shot (pass) or steal on a mistake
