The goal of this session is to improve the team's ability to build up in the opposition half, starting with a fun game to get them ready for movement off the ball. Players then are oriented to receive the ball with their backs to goal. The change in angle in phase 2 of the session allows for players to alter the kinds of runs they will make when looking to receive the ball, based on Menotti's concept of creating space to receive through movement off the ball. The core of the session is in improving build-up play in the oppositions half of the field, using wide areas and good movement off of the ball. During the free-play phase, we want to see the teachings of training be applied in a full-game form.
