I can do this, can you do this/Madison (10 mins)

I can do this, can you do this - in a 20 x 30 yard space

Coaches call all players into a circle. You can start with or without a ball in this game.

The game starts off with the coach showing a skill or a dribbling task and asking "I can do this, can you do this?" Players will copy the coach and continue working on it until the coach introduces a new one. After 4-5 from the coach, you can ask some of your players if they have something for the group to try. Allow one or two and send for water.

Here are some ideas:

-I can skip around the field with my ball in my hands

-Throw the ball in the air and clap and try to catch it

-Dribble and stop the ball with the bottom of the foot

-Dribble and stop the ball with sole of foot and then reverse it by rolling it the other way.

-Dribble in a large circle with sides of feet

-Dribble in a small circle with sides of feet

-Dribble fast or slow

-Run and jump as high as you can

Goal Chase/Madison (10 mins)

Goal Chase - 20 x 30 yard area

Start the game off without a ball with the players running and then add a soccer ball for the next round.

Coach asks all players to grab a ball and bring it in. Last ones a rotten egg!

When the coach says "Go" players must dribble their ball though as many cone goals as they can in the time allowed. (60-90 seconds) Ask players how they did while they catch their breath. IE. Did anyone get 4 or more, how about 6 or more, did anyone get 10 or more. Did anyone go without colliding into another player. How can we make sure we do not collide? That's right, we have to look around with our eyes while we are dribbling.

Go for 3-4 rounds and each round players must beat their own score from the previous round.

Tigers in the Jungle (10 mins)

Tigers in the Jungle - 20 x 30 Yard area

All players start off with a ball but you'll take away two players balls who start off as the Tigers. If a dribbler gets tagged then they have to freeze by putting their ball above their head and spreading their legs. Dribblers can unfreeze other dribbles by putting their ball through the frozen players legs to unfreeze them and let them come back into the game. The game is a race. The tigers are trying to freeze everyone but the dribbles are trying to work together to stay unfrozed. The round is over with the dribblers are frozen or 90 seconds have expired.

For the next round you should pick two new tigers or if you think there should be 3 then have 3 tigers for the next round.

play 3-4 rounds. Ask questions in between rounds to give them a chance to catch their breath and to give some coaching points

Coaching Points:

-Look around with your eyes when you dribble

-Change you speed or direction to avoid a Tiger

-Work as a team to unfreeze eachother to keep the game going

-Sub every four minutes or so and get the game going again.
