7v7 Game

7v7 +2 Game

  • Standard 7v7 game, however additional support to the team in possession in both the buildup and attacking phases of play to create a 9v7
  • The neutral players will be locked into a half each and will be tasked with picking up the ball beyond the lines of pressure when in possession, and then looking to combine and break quickly to advance the attack
  • After losing 2 players, it will turn into a 7v7 where the level of challenge will have increased as the extra players won't be present
  • First 15 mins - relatively unstructured and uncoached, free play with minimal coach interference
  • Second 15 mins - players will be reinforced with playing through the lines instruction and shown examples of what good looks like (broken up)
  • Third 15 mins - teams will be provided coaches and made a more competitive game with conditions applied
  • Last 15 mins - relatively unstructured and uncoached but with a scoring system at play

Coaching Points:

  • Emphasis on scanning in order to inform awareness and assessment of danger
  • Picking up positions beyond the initial line of pressure
  • Ability to hurt opposition by breaking quickly after reception in opposition half

6-Goal Game

6-Goal Game

  • Pitch is split with a halfway line and 3 goals at the end of either half
  • Main aim is to progress past the halfway line before looking to score in to any of the mini goals
  • Scoring System - Wider mini goals are worth 1 point, Central mini goal is worth 3 points
  • This places the emphasis on playing through in central areas as it is the quickest path to goal
  • Balls will be fed in from the coach on the side

Coaching Points:

  • Emphasis on scanning in order to inform awareness and assessment of danger
  • Picking up positions beyond the initial line of pressure
  • Ability to hurt opposition after reception in opposition half

Box SSG

  • Pitch is split into 4 zones plus scoring zones
  • Players must fill 3 out of the 4 squares and must not enter the same square as a teammate
  • Spare square leaves room for movement and rotation
  • Shots can only be taken in the scoring zone 
  • Play always restarts from gk

Coaching Points

  • Utilising width and depth to create space
  • Movement and rotational variations to create opportunities to play forward
  • Support play of teammates: between the lines/around the ball
  • Ball speed and combination play to alter defensive shape

  • Tight pitch 3-team game with 2 neutral players in play

  • 2 teams will play a standard game on the pitch, with a team on the outside acting as neutrals to keep play active and bounce passes back inside
  • Narrow pitch increases level of challenge for playing through
  • Once a team scores a goal, the conceding team will rotate with the outside team

  • Finding space away from pressure in tight areas
  • Quick combination play to progress after breaking a line
  • Manipulating and creating time and space when on the ball

  • Pitch is split with a halfway line and 3 mini goals at the end of each half
  • Game will be a 2v2 plus the neutral when in possession creating the overload in order for quick combinations to goal and positioning away from defenders in order to stretch the space
  • Scoring System - Wider mini goals are worth 1 point, Central mini goal is worth 3 points
  • This places the emphasis on playing through in central areas as it is the quickest path to goal
  • Players attack, defend, then go to the back of the line with a ball ready to attack next

  • Utilising an overload whilst in possession
  • Finding space away from defenders in order to stretch them
  • Combining and playing quickly to score
  • Emphasis on scanning in order to find the space

    Breaking Lines Game

    Breaking Lines SSG

    • Pitch is split into 3 zones
    • 3 teams of 4 plus 2 neutral players - Neutral players are restricted to their boxes and will play for the teams in possession 
    • Defenders will occupy the central zone and the 2 attacking teams will occupy the 2 outside zones
    • Scoring System: Attacking team plays through the central defensive area = 2 points - Attacking team plays around the outer sides of the defensive area = 1 point
    • 2 defenders can enter the attacking area to apply pressure and regain possession
    • If an attacking team loses possession of the ball, they will rotate roles with the defending team

    • Support play of teammates: between the lines/around the ball
    • Ball speed and combination play to alter defensive shape
