Set Up: Split pitch into 3rds, players in teams of 3, position 1 Def & GK in bottom area, 1 def in middle zone & 3 attackers start in end zone. 1 large goal at end 2 small goals wide of the middle 3rd.
Format: Attackers look to progress through the 3rds to get a shot at goal, defenders are locked in their zones to create 31 or 3v2 (AGES) , after that ends attackers leave pitch & new attackers come out, def stay for set time then rotate.
Progressions: Defenders can move through zones & determine how they want to defend.
Key Points: Decisions - Players in possession need to understand how to progress through the 3rds. Players should be encouraged to dribble when they are breaking through the middle area or in the final area.
Timings - Player in possession should look to draw defenders in & time their pass to take Def out the game, or attack & exploit the space if looking to beat def.
Ball Mastery & scoring - Encourage players to be creative and imaginative in the final area to create goal scoring opportunities & ruthless quick finishing.
