Orientation Phase (20 minutes of however long it takes to bring out the problem)
The Blues have a #1 #2 #3 #6 #4 #5 #8 #10 (Orientation)
The reds have a #6 #7 #11 #10 #9 #8 (Learning)
In this stage, we are working with the Blue team the orientation team. The red team will start the game looking to attack the big goal. The blues are looking to win the ball in their defensive half and are then looking to transition into build-up. Notice how in the diagram when the blue #6 wins the ball the blues are able to open up into their possession shape so they can play forward into the target goals. The blues should look to play forward as soon as they win the ball if not they can play back in order to get their shape and play forward.
Coaching Moments: In this phase of the practice, we want to bring out the problem so we will be coaching over the top and doing individual references when needed.
Address how as soon as the blues win the ball they should be looking to play forward into the striker (target goals). If they can't play forward we can play back and open up as a team into our possession shape.
Time: 20 Mins (9 min x 2 sets) 1 min break to deliver coaching and send for water.
Dimensions: 35x40.

Learning Phase (30 minutes)
The Blues have a #1 #2 #3 #6 #4 #5 #8 #10 (Orientation)
The reds have a #6 #7 #11 #10 #9 #8 (Learning)
In this stage, we are working with the Red team the Learning team. The red team will start the game looking to attack the big goal. When the reds lose the ball in the attacking phase is when we want them to begin their press. They are looking to pressure the ball immediately and whoever is closest to the ball should immediately pressure the player on the ball. See in the diagram how when the Blue #6 wins the ball the reds are pressuring from all angles to get compact and cut off passing lines. When the reds regain possession they should be looking to attack at goal right away.
Coaching Moments: In this phase of the practice, we want to use freezes and paint the picture moments
Address how pressing to regain the ball high up the field is a great opportunity for us to sustain attacks and create goal-scoring chances. The best opportunity to win the ball is as soon as you lose it since the other team isn't organized in possession yet.
Time: 30 Mins (9 min x 3 sets) 1 min break to deliver coaching and send for water.
Dimensions: 35x40.

As soon as the reds win back possession notice how in the diagram the blues aren't as compact as previously due to them being in possession and in the process of spreading out. The reds should be looking to play direct and create a chance in a short time frame (5 seconds or less) before the blues get back in their defensive shape.

Implementation Phase 20 Minutes
In the implementation phase, we are looking to see if either can team do what we have worked on in the learning phase in a game. When they lose in the attacking half can they win the ball back immediately by putting pressure on the ball immediately and cutting off passing lanes? When they win the ball back can they go direct and create chances before the other team gets organized?
Duration: 20 Minutes (9.5x2) Gives the teams a chance to get a drink and switch sides like a game.

Warm-up Phase 20 MInutes
In the warmup phase, we have a 3 team possession game. Its a 4v4 in the middle of the grid with 4 neutral players to play to on the outside. The field dimensions are long and narrow in order to encourage lots of turnovers and put pressure on the ball as soon as the ball is lost.
During this activity, we are working on the teams when they lose the ball as we want to transition quickly into defense by putting pressure on the ball immediately and cutting off passing angles.
