Small sided control game
Set up
To set up the small sided area is already set up from the skill game. The cones from the central area need to be removed. Two end zones and 2 channels need to be set up on either side This can be done by the 2nd coach as the 1st coach is de briefing the skill game. 2 goals 1 at either end
Coaches to stand either side of small sided area with 2 sets of balls ready to play in to maximise ball rolling time
2 sets of 6 bibs to be set up on either half
Intro
Players to be in 2 sets of 5 with 1 player in the opposite end zone
Demonstration
Coach to demonstrate as player in the middle
Instructions
Player in the middle to pass to each player and they return to each player in turn. Reds and blues will alternate an attacking and defending phase
When the whistle is blown whichever team it's turn it Is to attack, 2 players split into either channel, this is an uncontested ares. Which ever team it's turn is to defend returns the ball to coach on the side and players set up in defensive positions. This is an uncontested area
The defending team try to turn the ball over and then become the attacking team
the goal is to get the ball to the player in the end zone who must take one touch before scoring and is the only player who can score. The end zone is uncontested
the play then reverses to the other team and the previous attacking team will become the defending team. Coach from the side resets play and both players return to original positions
2 minute plays before entering progresion phase
Progressions
The ball must be passed to both players in either channel before a goal can be scored
1 player from defending team can enter the end zone to challenge attacking player
Minimum of 5 passes before a goal can be scored this will then count for 2 goals
Regressions
The end zone is removed any player can score
Defending players are not allowed to challenge only put pressure on attacking players
Challenges
Can you keep possession of the ball
Can you utilise the uncontested challenge
Targets
Can you make 5 passes before scoring to make 1 goal become 2
Can you make 10 passes before scoring to make 1 goal become 3
