2v2 Twin Strikers vs Center Backs
Ball served long into two forwards who attempt to get a shot on goal. Starting position of center backs is at the top of the box. Center backs rotate.
Establishing a line of confrontation. We look to pressure the ball between 26-28 yards from goal this is based on the ability/ age level of play we currently play at.
Coaching Points
Pressure: 1st defender aims to force attackers head down
Cover: 2nd defender supports just underneath and is in position to pressure if the ball travels to the 2nd striker.
Dictate Play: We look to show wide and away from the center when possible
Deny space to shoot and inbetween the center backs
Recovery: Change of roles when necessary and delay of play to allow recoverey when outnumbered.

A Third attacker is added and the ball is played into the red attacking mid.
Coaching Points
Restraint: Center backs are positioned at line of confrontation and stay compact allowing little space between them. There aim is to delay the play as long as possible without giving up a shot close to goal denying space in front and behind. Passes across or back are considered success in this situation.
As the attacking mid approaches closer can the can the closest center back (red arrow) ceil off the attackers right shoulder working tightly with the 2nd defender force play in one direction making the play 2v2. Dictating play into the supporting defender or away from the goal.

Triangle arrangement of opposition (red) different to get used to playing different styles or to look at variations within the 4-3-3. The game builds on the functional work previously covered. Focus is on the coacing points previously addressed in a more game realistic setting.

5v2 (2 boxes 10x10 yrds)
2 red enter the first grid and must get the ball out of the box before they can go to the next box. The next two players may not enter until both ball have been intercepted. The red team has 2 minutes to intercept possesson as many times as possible.
Pressure vs Restraint
Due to the time restaint of the exercise it is used to pressure and cover with the aim of winning and intercepting the ball.
Coaching Points
Dictate play 1st defender
Prevent through passes (penetration) 2nd defender
Intrcept while the ball is travelling
Restraint don't chase in circles drop in then look to dictate and deny
