Warm up

Warm up - 15 mins 

Section 1 - Physical - 5 mins 

Physical warm up. In small box, players get touches on the ball, movement around the box. Stop for dynamic stretching.

Section 2 - Passing - 5 mins 

1 touch Passing exercise as shown. Short one touch passing exercise. Focus on players being ready to receive (not flat footed). Figure of 8 passing, players follow pass.

Section 3 - Skill Practice - 5 mins 

In 4 groups, players chip the ball over mini goal for volleyed finish from 5 yards for 1 point.

Game Related Practice - 15 mins 

Split group into two (6 with Graham - Theo, Oliver, Josep, Adam, Alex, Andreas) - Defensive shape exercise 

10 players with Josh - possession / small sided game  exercise 


Graham - Shadow work consolidating  defensive shape 

1) Coach plays passes to 2 extra players for defensive toaster shape accordingly 

2) passes centrally for change in shape 

3) Introduce pushing up when the ball its passed backwards 

4) introduce dropping deeper when there is no pressure on the ball

Common language  

'over' across the pitch 

'up' - push up the pitch together 

'drop' - move back side on ready anticipate pass (body shape of player)

'in' -  fullback come inside and stay connected 

Positional changes when ball is in the air.

- anticipating a mistake

Game Related Practice 2 - 20 mins 

Organisation 

Set up in one half. Coach plays into GK and back 4 disperse as if playing out from the back. Defenders combine to pass the ball into small goal. Coach puts out a second ball to 4 attacking players who play to goal. Defenders must reorganize quickly and get back into attacking shape. Attackers go to a 1 - 3 formation. Play to goal. 

Coach 

1) speed of regaining defensive shape 

2) communication and use of common terms 'in', 'over' 'up' 'drop'

Progression 

Progress to 5v5 then 5v6
