Session Objective:Warm up drill:intensive physical work over short periods.3 or 4 five minute bursts.
Organisation:
Poles set out in square and three poles set out as shown at 5 and at 6.Drill starts with 1.1 plays ball to 2 and then makes sprint around cones as illustrated until he reaches 5.At 5 he receives ball from player 5 to return two quick volleys, one between each pair of posts. He then takes 5's place.5 moves quickly to face 6 and 6 feeds ball for two quick headers, again one returned between each post.5 takes 6's place and 6 sprints round cone, quick feet to go through cones and joins back of 2's line.
When ball initially played to 2,while 1 moves as illustrated above,2 receives ball and plays to 3.2 then moves to follow pass but makes forwards and backwards movement between cones on way.3 receives and plays to 4 and follows pass, again making forwards and backwards movement at A. 4 receives and plays to 1.4 then follows pass, again making forwards and backwards movement at B.
Players encouraged to move as quickly as possible .5 minutes intensive work then repeated.
Developments:
Vary time and repetitions relevant to age of players.
Vary movements between cones-can be two shuttle runs, sideways movements etc.
Vary number of poles at 5 and 6.
Key Factors:
Speed of movement;body shape to volley quickly;heading technique;speed of foot movement;quality of pass (weight).

2 balls moving simultaneously. Play starts by the first player coming short as if to receive (2). The player in possession (1) inores him and plays the furthest player (3). Who sets back to player (2) he then plays into player (4). Player (1) after playing the 1st pass sets off on a over-lapping/support run and receives off player (4) player (1) then plays back to (4) who plays across the square and starts the sequence off again.
Progressions
Bounce the ball off player (2) so player (1) supports then plays to (3)

Further extensions.
(1) 1 plays to A who returns and spins inside mannikin.A plays straight ball, diagonal run from A.
(2) 2 plays to B who sets to third man running (3) who plays straight ball for B.2 becomes player on mannikin,3 becomes 2 and plays next pass.
(3)4 plays to C who sets to third man running (5)who plays straight ball for C.
(4)Further variation:pass from 5 is diagonal,run from C is straight.
Key Factors:
Movement at mannikin to create space.
Body shape to receive.
Movement in advance of pass.Quality of touch.

Starting Point - 1 Plays to 2,3 or 4 depending on who is in space these players then look to play forward to players who have made runs off the ball to create space. Player 1 looks to support behind the ball. If the defending team win the ball back they have 5 touches between the team to score in the mini goals.
Key Factors - There are two main groups of run that you need to focus on. i.e runs to create space for others or runs to exploit space
Runs to create space for others -
Running from in front of the ball -
Inside out diagonal runs
Outside in diagonal runs
Running from behind the ball -
Over/under laps
Diagonal runs
Runs to Exploit Space -
Running from in front of the ball -
Diagonal runs across the defender
Diagonal run wrong footing the defender by checking and changing direction
Combination of diagonal/straight pass with straight/diagonal run
Running from behind the ball -
Over/under lap
Movement from behind the ball into space created by movement in front of the ball
Additional Factors
Quality and timing of the pass
Awareness of forward players runs - being able to spot a player who wants the ball and when they are trying to create space for others
Decision Making - when to pass and when to dribble to exploit space
Watching for offside - timing of runs
