Football/Soccer Session (Moderate): endzone dribbling

end zone dribbling

Organization

• two 10x10 channels with 2 end zones (5 yards endzones)
• 3v3 or 4v4 based on numbers
• 1 ball per field
• two teams in different colors

Instructions

1. the objective of the game is to maintain possession and penetrate (by dribbling to an endzone for the team that has possession of the ball

2. the attacking team must dribble into the end zone to gain a point and once in the end zone the must now  transition to attack into the opposite end zone

3. if the defending team wins the ball then they must attack to an end zone for a point

-observation of space

-communication 

-attacking mentality 

-decision making (dribble into open space? or combine with teammate? 

-maintain vs penetrate possession of ball

-off the ball movement

-speed of play

-quality of turning technique

-change of direction skill moves

-1v1 principles (Enter pressure area, Execute move, Exit touch)

Progressions

1. Player must score first time after entering endzone

2. one defender is allowed  to track player into endzone and attempt to deny scoring opportunity
