Defensive Posture and Movement Warm-up
-5 Lanes are created with cones (see illustration)
-Place a ball in each lane at the gate, alternating top and bottom. (5 Total Balls)
-There are two lines of players and each player has a partner, who is at the opposite end, but in the same starting position.
Both Players converge toward the center of the lane, one with a ball and the other without. When the meet in the middle, the player with the ball does a quick turn and dribbles ball back to the spot where he took it. The player without the ball slows down and comes under control, getting lower, and then "explosed" back to to where he came from, and then to the next lane where he takes the ball on the dribble to the center of the next lane. Repeat to the end, then jog back and get in line to start process over.
Coaching Points
-Defensive Players need to get low with knees bent as the converge on the attacker, so the can quickly change direction and reach top speed as rapidly as possible when tracking back to advance to the next lane, where they take ball and become attacker.
-Attackers should vary the types of turns they use and work to change direction as quickly as possible.

Denying / Disrupting the shot
Divide Team into 4 groups of 4, plus 1 or 2 Keepers
Group A plays a firmly weighted pass to the next player in line in group B, then player A closes down the space as quickly as possible to deny or disrupt, player B's shot opportunity. Group A and Group C alternate and start new round once shot is taken by adjacent group, to keep game moving quickly.
Attacking Teams (B & D) keep score on number of goals scored, and defending team with the fewest goals allowed, wins round.
After 10 minutes, the groups swap sides. Defending groups, become attacking and vice versa.

Session
4(8) v 4 Attacking
There are 3 teams of 4. In the Illustration above, Team 1 (White) is opposing Team 2 (Orange). Team 3 (Blue) is the supporting team of whoever is in possession. The objective is to score on your opponents goal(s), using the players as needed, in the 4 corners to switch play and maintain possession. The players in the corners serve to support the team in possession, creating an 8v4 scenario. The players in the corners are restricted to their shaded areas.
When a goal is scored, the losing side, quickly swaps places with the players in the 4 corners. Play continues by the coach putting a new ball in play.
Encourage movement off the ball to anticipate and expect ball versus reacting after the ball is played.
Progression
Goals must be scored with a first touch shot. Encourage players to set up shot opportunities by laying balls off, serving balls from the outside to onrunning players, etc...
Limit number of touches, so players are forced to combine faster. Head on swivel, calculate options before the ball arrives.

Possession - High Pressure 6 v 10 (40 x 40 Grid)
Defensive Group - (6 Players) / Possession Group (10 Players)
Objective - High tempo/Pressure and positioning from 6 disrupts possession of group of 10
1 - Every time defensive group (6) wins ball prior to 5 consecutive passes, 10 man group does 10 push-ups.
2 - Every time offensive group (10) connects 8 consecutive passes, defensive group does 10 push-ups.
Defensive Coaching Points (6 Man Group)
- Stay organized and communicate
- Look to pinch players in corners, and use grid perimeter as defender
- Press quickly with high tempo to force errors and reduce decision making time for player in possession
- Quick looks to see movement off the ball (don't get stuck watching ball)
- Stay balanced to eliminate big switch of play

Agility Warm-up (15 mins)
Agility Warmup - Timed Tag
Divide Team into two groups (If groups are larger than 6, then allow x2 players to enter tag area at same time to keep game moving faster.
Objective - Each team sends 1 (or 2 players, depending on size of each group) into the grid to try and tag an opponent as quickly as possible, then run through the gate on the opposite side. Once a player runs through the gate, then the next player in line enters the grid to do the same. Each player must complete 3 rounds before the the teams switch.
Coach times the each group and the team that completes the circut the fastest, wins the round.
