Face To Face Block Tackle (10 mins)

  • Start each player with their foot against the ball with the correct tackling foot position. 
  • Technique - Lock the ankle of the tackling foot.
  • Technique - Bend the knees slightly to give your body a lower Centre of gravity and more power. 
  • Technique - Drive the foot through the ball. 
  • Move each player out onto the disks, and they have to beat the opposing player with a tackle of the ball using the correct technique. Whoever wins the ball, the ball goes closer to their opponent.
  • Get the players to believe they are going to win the ball, using controlled aggression.

Practice (20 mins)

  • Stack of Balls in the goals.
  • Defenders (red) pass the ball along the floor to the attackers (blue)
  • 1 2Dv1A. Defenders double up when 2v1 to win the ball. Ball is dead when defender wins the ball and passes into the goals or to other defender or coach
  • 2 2Dv2 A, Closest defender presses the Attacker with the ball, remaining defender has to cover the passing area between the open attacker, not commit too early
  • 3 2Dv3 A, Closest defender presses the attacker, remaining defender has to protect the goal / space behind the covering defender, use communication / verbal clues (Go ball / Go Net)
  • Rotate defenders.
