improve awareness, decision making, movement and finishing in own half with T2A

ORGANISATION

  • Area: One half of the pitch, full width – Offside in play
  • 4 Red players (CF, LM, RM & CAM) v 3 Blue players (RCB, LCB & CDM) + Goalkeeper
  • Red team have another 3 players (LM, RM & CAM) waiting in gates
  • Blue team have specific players (RB, RCB, LCB & LB) waiting behind goal
  • Red team start the practice with objective to attack and score with RM, LM and CAM rotating when objective achieved
  • If Blue player/GK wins the ball they then Transition to Attack with the RB & LB joining them in attack to create an overload with the objective of playing a pass to any of the 3 Red Players waiting in the gates on halfway line
  • If the Blue team are successful in passing to any of the 3 Red players in the gates the Red team then attack straight away with the waiting Red players rotating to create a new 4 v 3 situation and the 2 blue full backs return to waiting position behind goal
  • Both the Red player (CF) and Blue player (CDM) rotate out every 3 minutes
COACHING POINTS
  • Look for players to create both space and time in possession – positioning off the ball
  • Angles and distance of support, can the player on the ball pass to teammate or into space to attack?
  • Encourage players to play with their head up, to be aware of pressure from opposition
  • End product – attacking play to be quick with creative influence, i.e. movement, dribbling, passing, shooting
  • Quick transitions in both attack and defence
  • Communication and awareness is key from all players involved
  • Good central coaching position with clear instructions flowing during play

NOTES

Let the game flow freely allowing the players to make their own decisions
