Def header warmup

Teams in groups of 3 alternating colors.   Grid 15x20 appr.   Coaches or keepers as servers

Blue starts as defense and orange as offense.   On "GO", they sprint across half line as coach sents in small drop punt.  Both teams fight to win position and header.   Defense tries to send across midline; orange tries to flick on.  AS soon as first ball is gone, they sprint back across the line for header from other side.  Both teams must sprint to regain position.   after 2 passes each side, orange goes to defense and next blue team comes to offense.

Rotation = OFF, DEF, Back of line.     Keep Score of successful headers that stay in bounds and go towards target.

Def in Box

Setup:About 25 yds long. 2 lines of offense/defense, 2 keepers, 2 crossers

Game: 1 player from OFF A and DEF A run into the box and a crosser crosses ball in. DEF A is trying to clear long and to the side. If they clear straight up the middle, the next player in OFF A may shoot if they get it. Then DEF A must try to shot block. After that rotation, continue with lines from DEF/OFF B.

Progression 1: Go to 2v2. Work up to 4v4 as needed

Coaching: Must make contact in the box. Near post clearance = send it back where it came. Far post clearance = send it on. Clearance or stopping player from getting to ball are of equal importance.

Continuous Cross Game

Crossers stay outside the 18 the entire time (All Time NEUTRAL Crossers).   6v6 or more in the box.  Two Keepers.   Orange Goal and Blue Goal (use pinnies if needed to mark).

Ball is sent in from crosser to start to orange team and they try to head into orange goal.   Blue tries to def head ball out.   Orange can continue to try to score in the box until ball is out or goal or blue wins possession.  If blue wins possession, they play out to either neutral crosser and they are on attack to their goal.   Change of possession or out of bounds, must restart from crosser.   Keep as continuous as possible.

Work on making early contact.   Don't let ball drop; reach up with head to highest point.   Fight for space.

throw, head, catch Ultimate Frisbee

Play full field or half field game.  Goalies optional.    Players must throw, head, and catch (in that order)  to maintain possession of the ball.  and they can only score off a header.  If ball hits ground, it is the other teams possession (like ultimate frisbee)  and they get ball where it hits the ground.   OR defense can head ball back to their team to gain possession.  NO DEF CATCHING

PROGRESSION:   Add channels wide and have neutrals.   The ball must be headed to neutral and caught in wide area.  Neutral tries to throw a cross in from the neutral channel and players look to score off header.
