Objectives

Players to practice their accuracy when crossing the ball 

Players to become comfortable to take the ball

Players to get lots of different finishes off when ball enters the box 

Players to get their timing better of shooting and entering the box 

Players to be able to get their shots off quickly

Players to have high repletion on the ball

Players to have success after retaining information from coach

Drill 

- Ball always starts with player in shaded wide area 

- Crosser has to deliver the ball into the final box for 2 attackers to finish

- Roles reverse after 10 crosses each 

- Blocks are split into 3 so all players have a go at all roles 

- Practice is done in 3v3 waves 

- Additional GK to be brought in to keep practice real

Coaching Points

Identify what type of cross you need to do when running down the line 

Break down the mechanics of each variation of cross 

Striker to be on their toes with eye on the ball ready for first touch

Timing of run entering the box ready for the cross 

First touch to go out of strikers feet in front ready to shoot

Striker to look at goal before shooting and looking to play in corners

Strikers are asked to use 2 different techniques of laces or side of foot for shooting on coaches command  

Progression 

Block 2, 1 players is the defender and comes into the shaded area to stop the cross 

If he wins the ball he plays into the mini goal

Weaker foot finishing

Crosses from different side with weaker foot 

Challenges

Competition of who can score as many as possible in time limit
