Setup:
10 - 12 metres on each side of the area (depending on players ability). 2 Setups
3 teams, 2 players in each team, one team in red, one team in blue and one team in black. (Any colours will work as long as players know who is on whos team).
Instructions:
2 teams on the outside, for example blue and red. 1 team inside, the black team.
The outside players attempt to keep the ball off the two defenders on the inside.
Once the two defenders win the ball 3 times they swap with the team that lost it the third time. (if one team is continually the defending team, swap the teams every 1-2 minutes rather than when they lose the ball).
Player Tasks (information to give players when they are struggling to succeed):
Can you position your self inline with the ball when receiving a pass?
Can you take your first touch with your back foot and away from the nearest defender?
Can your first touch set you up to pass with your next?
Can you pass to the players correct foot to help them keep possession of the ball?
Coaches cues (things to look for when your session isn't succeeding):
When a player is receiving a pass are they stretching out to receive the ball?
When a player is receiving a pass are they taking towards the defender?
When a player is passing the ball are they passing it to the player feet?
Progressions/Regressions:
Reduce the area size if the session is too easy, increase the area size if the session is too difficult.
Players have 3 touches to move the ball.
See the guidance at the top of this page to understand why you are not seeing interactive Football/Soccer images.
Setup:
40 x 30 metre area.
2 teams, 6 players in each team.
2 mini-goal at either end. (if goalkeeper is available they can be used at one end, if this is the case swap the sides over at half-time).
Instructions:
Ball always starts from behind the goal. If it goes out off the side it's a kick-in from where the ball went out. Players can either pass or dribble to start play again.
To score players must make at least 1 pass in the opposition half.
Swap the sides so they attack the opposite goal after 8-10 minutes (half of however long your game length is).

Passing Practice (20 mins)
Setup:
2 Cones, 2 - 5 metres apart (depending on your players passing ability) x 6 setups (shown in diagram)
Can be across the one line or across two lines to allow the coach better vision of each player.
Instructions:
All players will pass straight down the left hand side of their setup with their left foot. (shown by "Player A")
Players will then take a with their back/furthest foot (left) over to the left side of their body.
They will then repeat the process. (shown by "Player B")
If required players can take a second touch before they make the pass to ensure it goes to the correct foot of the receiver.
Progression:
After 5 minutes (or until the players have had plenty of attempts using their right foot to take their touch) they'll swap sides.
All players will pass straight down the right hand side of their setup with their right foot. (shown by "Player C")
Players will then take a touch with their back/furthest foot (right) over to the right side of their body.
They will then repeat the process. (shown by "Player D")
If required players can take a second touch before they make the pass to ensure it goes to the correct foot of the receiver.
Competition:
Players have 2 minutes to complete as many passes as they can. If the pass goes across the cones, or the player doesn't take a good lateral touch they don't get points for that pass.
Play the competition on both sides, the losing team has to pick up the cones.
