Breaking lines of defense using first touch, dribbling and passing.

Objective: To use first touch receiving a pass to break a defensive line.
Instructions: Player A passes to Player B then to Player C and Player D. Follow pass. Each player must check away from cones. First touch must be through cones/gates to beat the defensive player. Players follow their pass.
Progression: Add another ball so two balls going at same time.
Time/Rest: 4 minutes work, 1 minute rest. Total time 15 minutes.
Emphasis: Firm passes are required for receiving player to beat defender. Receiving player must have correct body position to beat defender with first touch.

Objective: Beating lines of defensive using combination play and through passes.
Instructions: Player A plays a firm pass into Player B. As soon as pass is made, Player C sprints to center cone and recovers to attempt to intercept pass from Player A to Player D. Rotation - A to B, B to C, C to D, D to new line A.
Time/Rest: 5 minutes work, 1 minute rest. Total time 20 minutes.
Emphasis: Firm accurate passes from Player A. Body position from Player B and properly weighted layoff from Player B. Player A attacks lay off pass from Player B. Player A accurate pass to D.

Breaking Lines Warm Up (15 mins)
Objective: To teach players to break lines of defense by dribbling or passing. Emphasis on using dribbling to create time and space to PASS to break lines of defense.
Instructions: Player A starts by firmly passing to Player B. Defensive player may enter grid once pass is made. Player B must immediately try to find the receiving player with a pass to break the defensive line. Rotate players so each one plays multiple roles.
Time/Rest: 4 minutes work, 1 minute rest. Total time 15-20 minutes.
Emphasis: Proper body position to receive pass. Firm entry pass. Utilize dribbling moves to create pass to break line of defense.
