Objective: Non Directional Possession
-To practice maintaining possession with specific positional roles, focusing on width.
Organization:
- In a 30 x 40 yard area, we play 4v4 (+3 Neutral players). The neutral players out wide are the 2 fullbacks and the one in the middle is the defensive midfielder. The two teams (blue and red) consist of 2 CBs and 2 attacking mifdfielders ideally.
-The team that has the ball must keep possession with the help of the neutral players. They should try to occupy their respective positions in both attack and defense.
Coaching Points:
-The attacking team should open up the pitch and the defenders should close the space.
-This is a positional game in which we intersperse numerical superiority on the flanks with numerical superiority through the central channels; outside play with inside play. Width is favored.
Interval Duration 2 intervals x 10 minutes (20 minutes)

10 v 7 where blues are trying to score in either of the two goals. They can not have a shot on net until they have played into the 9 first. Yellows are playing in a 1-4-2 and if they win the ball look to score on the big goal.
Restarts from blue's keeper.

Rondo-Warmup (5 mins)
Organization:
2- 10x10 yard boxes set up
5 attackers- 2 defenders in each box
Instructions:
-Attackers look to maintain possession by keeping ball away from 2 defenders
-If defender is able to steal ball, defender swaps with the attacking player.
-If ball goes out of play server plays ball immediately back in
10 consecutive passes= 1 pt
If 10 consecutive passes or a pass is able to split the 2 defenders, defenders stay in for an extra round. defenders can not stay in for more than 2 consecutive rounds.
Coaching Points:
-Open Body Shape when receiving ball allows ability to play in multiple directions
-Players off ball look to provide 2 options in support as ball is received by player.
-Angle of support of players off ball (look to create a clear line to be able to be played into)
-Recognition of cues to time movement (Move as the ball is played to provide option in support as the ball is received, rather than move when the player is already in possession)
