Description

The objective of this session is to improve quick reaction to the recovery of the ball as soon the players lose the ball, they will be engaging in counter pressure by thenearest player to the ball, the first defender should engage immediately to force the attacking team player to look down, and the remaining players should be also ready to engage on 1 x 1 to deny penetration at any source, being proactive and making the field smaller around the ball.

ORGANIZATION

12 players minimum, soccer balls, color vests, cones

DETAIL INSTRUCTIONS

In an area of 40 yards x35 yards, split into two zones of 20x35 yards, two teams of 6 players at each zone, (3 players inside the press box) and 3 players outside. As soon the players from inside the box receive the pass, three players from outside join in to try counter-press and regain possession, by doing so they will counter and try to score at the mini goal

If they score they will stay inside the press box and will keep the possession game next.5 blocks of 90 secs.

Body shape to support the first attacker in receiving the pass and dealing with the press

Be dynamic by creating movements without the ball to create space to receive

Be craft on passing the ball

OUT OF POSSESSION

  • Close the first attacker as soon as you lose the ball
  • Force the attacker to make a mistake, look down to the ball, bad touch...
  • Ready the trigger
  • Recognize where,  when, and how to press to counter
  • Get compact and stay compact around the ball

4 v 2 + - OUT OF POSSESSION - COUNTER PRESS TO GOAL -15 MIN

ORGANIZATION

Same  as the previous phase

DETAIL INSTRUCTIONS

4x 2 at each end zone, after the GK passes the ball to one of the defenders 2 players from the opposing team can press the defenders, the defenders must complete 4 to 6 passes before making the transition to another half of the field, however, after FOUR passes another attacking player can join into the press, and as they delay to passing the ball across after each pass another player can apply press, if they win the ball they will go to goal, and count three points.
