Attacking Corner (15 mins)

Organization:

  • 10-20 soccer balls

Description:

This corner is a short corner that gives #6 two options (areas) to cross it into.

The runs are the same but it is up to #6 to decide where to go either first or second post, depending on the defensive structure.

#9 will start around the pk area and attack the first post.

#5 will start behind #9 and run around to the second post.

#4 will start behind #5 and run straight to the second post.

#11 will start behind #4 and attack the middle of the box, between the pk and 6-yard area.

#8 and #3 will stay on top of the 18-yard body and take a shot if the ball rebounds to them.

Progression:

Practice hitting both areas. Practice without defenders and also with defenders. Let players try different roles/runs.

Duration: 15 minutes

Coaching Points:

#6 must check into the ball at the right time. Naming this play and calling this play out will help players be on the same page. Runners in the box must know what area they are attacking and time their movements. Letting players practice different runs can help the play be more successful.
