PURPOSE -
Developing quick changes of direction to lose pressuring defenders.
ORGANIZATION -
Set out a 20 x 20 grid. Split the group into 2 teams with one team wearing bibs. All players given a ball. One team are the taggers and should stand waiting on the outside of the grid, whilst the other group of players positions themselves in a space within the grid. The taggers must attempt to tag all the players inside the grid whilst maintaining control of their own ball. When a player is caught they must pick up their ball and shout for help. They can be freed by another player if a ball is passed between their legs. The winning team is the one who can avoid all their players becoming tagged for the longest time. Rotate the inside players every 5 minutes.
COACHING POINTS -
Dribbling fundamentals: Head-up, ball close, accelerate away from the danger / the opponent.
See the guidance at the top of this page to understand why you are not seeing interactive Football/Soccer images.
Setup -
The end zones on each line are safe zones. 3 players in the end zone each play against a player in the opposite end zone. The defending player starts with the ball and passes across the area to the opponent then they play 1 vs. 1. If the attacking player beats their opponent gets into the end zone they need to perform a turn and dribble past the defender and return to the safe zone where they started. (defenders not allowed in safe zones). Rotate roles of players change opponent after 1 minute.

Key Coaching Points
Awareness
In order to perform ball mastery and turns players should be aware of the space and other players by keeping their heads up.
Players should look to keep the ball close to their feet when there is no space to dribble into. If there is space to attack, encourage players to take bigger touches into the space.
Once performing turns, players should look to change direction and accelerate away from the defender.

Players shoud try to beat a defender before passing or shooting. Hopefully, see an improvement from the arrival activity.
