Football/Soccer Session (Moderate): First Touch/Finishing

First Touch/Finishing

Set up 3 Stations as shown with a finishing area 8-10 yds. outside the 18 yd. box.

Station A: Player 2 starts on the inside flag, moves toward the outside flag to draw defender. As she gets close to opposite flag, player 1 passes a through ball. Player 2 spins around the flag, directs the ball into the shaded area with 1 touch and finishes with the next touch.

Station B: Player 2 moves to either flag, cuts in, receives the ball, directs it into the shaded area with first touch and with second touch finishes.

Station C: Player 2 moves to the outside flag, cuts inside, receives the ball, directs it into the shaded area with first touch and with second touch finishes.

Rotations: Player 1 goes to Player 2 position. Player 2 retrieves the ball and goes to next station. ( A to B, B to C, C to A)

Conditions: You must direct the ball into the shaded area with the first touch and shoot with the second touch. If the ball is not inside the area after your first touch, you lose the shot. Play at game speed.

Coaching Points: Movement to create space, first touch, quality/technique of the shot, body orientation, quality of the pass
