Area size 20 mtr x 20 mtr with a 8 mtr x 8 mtr box on the inside.
The session details
Red team pass the ball around to each other the get 3 x points for every pass though the middle box. A point for every consecutive successful pass.
The 2 x Blue players one has to press the ball the other must protect the middle. The challenge for the blue team is that they must take turns in pressing and protecting which doesn't give them recovery time.
Rotate the 2 defender between repetition 8 x 30 sec with 30 x sec rest in between.
Challenge and conditions
1. Red Team to play two touch
2. Red team has 3 sec to pass.
Physical Considerations
The session will be high intensity working on speed, agility, balance and coordination.
1. 20 - 30 sec set dependant of age and period of the season. (Any longer and you lose the intensity)
2. Make the area size bigger or smaller depending how hard you want the players to work.
Technical Returns
Red Team
1. Weight of pass so we can Breaking lines
2. Play quick passes so we can move the defenders around (Wall returns pass)
3. Open body position and on our toes, know where the pass is going before you receive it.
Blue team
1. Cut out the passing angles by curving your angle of run, force the direction of play.
2. Communication so each other know who is pressing and protecting.
3. High intensity to close the red players to make mistakes
Tactical
Blue team must work as a team with good communication so they can protect the middle and force them to go outside, they will have to put their bodies on the line to block any attempts to play through the middle boxes. Close down quickly but slow down before arriving make yourself big and force direction of play.
Red team Play with their head up, move the ball quickly to create passing angle so they can pass though, around the press. keep the ball moving so you can move the opposition about to create gaps in the middle to exploit.
