Organization: 30*25 grid in front of the main goal. 4 cones in a diamond shape at the top of the grid. Server at the top of the diamond. Players line up behind the bottom three cones. Two defenders, one on each side of the goal with a ball.
Activity: Players start in a flat line across and when the coach serves a ball in the direction of one of the cones, one player will attack the ball and play it back to the coach while the other two players provide cover and balance. Coach will alternate serving to different cones and players will adjust accordingly. After a few reps the server releases the players and two of the players will attack the net and receive a ball from a server beside the net and finish with an uncontested shot on net.
Progression: add a 4th defender
Coaching Points:
1. Pressure, cover and balance delay & dictate.
2. Attack the ball quickly.
3. Body position.
4. Angle/distance of support (depth in defending).
5. Communication.

Organization: 10*10 grid - two set ups. Two balls per grid. 4 small lines - one per side. One mini gate in front of each line. Players split into two groups - 8-9 per grid (adjust as needed).
Activity: Player with the ball passes right, moves left. Player opposite the receiver presses and joins their queue. Start with defenders being passive and progress to players being able to tackle the ball. Aim is to play the ball past the defender into the next player in queue.
Progressions:
Change the direction of play.
Allow players the choice to pass left or right.
Play 2v2 - server joins the defender.
Key Factors:
Body shape - angle of approach.
Technical points of defending: close down, slow down, sit down, at arm's length.
Timing of tackle - don't dive in.

Organization: Half field. Width of the 18-yard box. One large and two small goals near half. Supply of balls with a server just inside the centre circle.
Activity: Red attack the large goal with two forwards and four midfielders (4-4-2 shape). Blue defend with a GK and backline of 4 (2,3,4,5) in a 4-4-2 shape. Blue look to score on one of the two mini goals upon regaining possession. Start with passive pressure - Red play the ball around and Blue adjust accordingly. After two minutes progress to full pressure.
Coaching Points:
1) Keeping the opposition on one side of the field - strong side of the field.
2) Defensive shape - backline stays connected.
3) When to pressure/cut off passing lanes and when to protect/cut off passing lanes.
4) Body position - see the ball, see the player.
5) Finding targets on the ground.
6) Keep the back line up!!
