Passing & Off the Ball Runs:
Set-up: All Players in Grid & Split into groups of 4 teams. 40x40?
Each team starts at an endline and passes and moves directionally to other side of grid
The greens and black play north and south and blues go east and west.
Progression:
1) Players must pass and move, but one must take the opportunity to make an overlapping run (white team shown in the example)
2) Players must pass and move, but one must make a 'third-man run'
Scoring: How many overlapping / third-man runs can you make in 90 seconds?
Caution: Exercise can look extremely messy - make it easier to manage visually by focusing on one team at a time.
Questions: Can you recognize opportunities to make an overlapping run? can you recognize opportunities to make a third-man run? Can you recognize these forward runs when all four teams are working at the same time? Can the weight of ass match the timing of the runs? What other off-the-ball runs could you make or invent?
