Communication/Language
“Force left/right” - signal to show an opponent to OUR left or OUR right
“Step/Press” - apply pressure to the ball
“Go” - win the ball, tackle
“Lock on” - everybody mark tight and step
“Drop/Contain” - lower the pressure and defend the spaces (press isn’t on)

Pressing- Skill Practice 1 (15 mins)
Set Up
4 mini goals or gates with cones
Cones, Balls
2 teams of 13 (26)
Grid size: dependent on numbers ** space needs to be small enough to allow pressing success 25x25 or 30x30
Possession team is looking to complete minimum of 3 passes before transferring to the grid to the left or right. 1 Point for every transfer.
Defending team sends 3 players can go in each zone to defend. They can only go when the ball in arriving in the grid. If they win the ball they can score in mini goal/gate = 3 goals, making the possession team make a mistake and playout of bounds = 1 point.
Coaching Points
- Front foot pressing, press to win the ball, force a mistake
- Can't press together can all get behind the ball then go together.
- Look to create +1 in the press
- Stay compact, be aggressive and brave.
- Can we communicate where to force the opposition when shaping the press.

Game
Ball begins with GK, possession team RED are trying to score in one of the four mini goals. Defending team are looking to force the ball to on side, before showing into middle where numbers up. Defending team must seal the field so RED cannot score in 2 point goals. If defending team win the ball back they look to score in the big goal for 2 points.
