Skill Practice- 1v1 Attacking (15 mins)
Rules and aim of the game:
. Player in possession must get past the defender and take the ball through one of the wide gates shown in the diagram.
. As soon as they get through the gate, defedner can't tackle them and they must pass the ball to the player waiting at the other side.
. Defending player only changes if they win the ball.
Key Coaching Points:
. Use dribbling technique when the defender is close or coming to close you down as you need to keep good control of the ball to prevent getting tackled.
. Use a change of pace when running with the ball to accelerate into the open space and get through one of the wide gates.
. Try using a change of direction through a turn or skill to beat the defender like practiced in the technical practice.
Interventions
Drive by: I will analyse the practice to see if they are understanding the difference between dribbling and RWB and the right times to do so. Then i can have a 1 on 1 with the player to highlight the stage where space opened up and where they should RWB instead of dribbling and vise versa when space wasn't there so they should have dribbled past the defender to keep good control of the ball.
Fly by: I will shout on to the pitch to praise a player that has shown clear understanding of when to dribble and when to RWB and performed it successfully.
Challenges:
1. Can you sucessfully display dribbling to beat the defender through the use of a skill move or turn.
2. Can you sucessfully display RWB by finding space through the use of a positive first touch from when the pass comes in to find space to run into with the ball away from the defender.
Equipment:
. 6 cones.
. 1 football for use but a few spares if the ball goes away from where the practice is set up.
Area Size:
. Each half is 10x15 yards.

Game Related Practice (15 mins)
Rules:
. Player 1 starts the practice with a 1v1 against the keeper.
. Player 2 has a 1v1 against player 1 as soon as first attack is over.
. Player 1 defends in a 2v1 situation against player 2 and 3 as soon as attack 2 is over.
. Then the cycle is over and each player joins back of the next queue (1 to 2, 2 to 3 and 3 to 1).
. Cycle 2 starts.
Aim of the game:
. Score as many goals as you can through the use of dribbling and RWB in game related situations.
Key Coaching Points:
. Notice the right time to dribble or RWB and perform the correct skill for the correct situation.
. Travel with the ball at pace when RWB during a 1v1 to cover gorund quickly and get a shot off.
. Express yourself in 1v1 situations to be unpredictable and try different skills and turns to beat the defedner and get a shot off.
. Keep the ball under control with plenty of change in directions to confuse the defedner and then wait for the space to take the defender on and try to finish past the goalkeeper.
Interventions
Drive by: I will pull a player out for a chat to question their knowledge to see which station should be running with the ball where there is open space (station 1) and where dribbling should be used as there is a defender closing you down (station 2 and 3).
Fly by: I will praise players who demonstrate the correct skill in the correct situation so all the players hear the praise and this will encourage them to use the correct skill on the correct station.
Challenges:
1. Can you get a shot off in less than 7 seconds on each station to keep the intensity high and the speed of attacks quick.
2. Can you score a goal on each station to show successful use of dribbling and RWB in different game related situations.
Equipment:
. 3 cones.
. 3 balls.
. a 5 or 7 a side goal.
Area Size:
Half of a 5 a side pitch or a third of a 7 a side pitch.

Small Sided Game (15 mins)
Rules:
. RWB through the gates and dribble through the line of cones for double points for each if a goal is scored from the same attack without losing the ball.
. Goals without any RWB or dribbling displayed is just worth 1 goal.
. If a skill move or turn is used to beat a defender, then a goal is scored in the same attack, this will be worth 2 goals.
Key Coaching Points:
. Find space on the pitch to RWB through the gates and get into the positions to either beat a defender or dribble through a line of cones as these are placed in key areas of the pitch where we should be on the ball as an attacking team.
. Use the correct technique for the skill being used so small touches for dribbling to keep the ball close to feet but bigger touches and at a higher pace for RWB to cover more ground in a shorter space of time.
. Get into space in these key areas off the ball so you can receiev the ball in key areas of the pitch to go and either RWB or dribble depending on the situation.
Challenges:
. How many times can you RWB through gates in key areas.
. How many times can you dribble through the gates or beat a defedner in the key areas of the pitch.
. As a team in the same attack, can you RWB through a gate, dribble through the cones and beat a defedner and get a shot off at gal. A goal in this situation would be worth 5 points.
Equipment:
. 16 cones.
. 5 bibs.
. 1 ball.
. 2, 5 or 7 a side goals.
Area Size:
. 5 or 7 a side pitch.

Technical Practice (15 mins)
Skills Corridor Game (15 mins)
Rules:
. Players must take the ball through the 'corridor' and perform a skill of their choice in the middle zone.
. Players need to watch out and avoid the other players who are dribbling at the same time as 4 people are dribbling through the corridors at the same time.
Key Coaching Points:
. Keep the ball nice and close to your feet with little touches in tight spaces to keep control of the ball.
. Run with the ball at pace to cover more ground when free space opens up.
. Express yourself by trying advanced skills in the middle zone to test your ability in tight spaces.
. Use all parts of the foot during dribbling (inside, outside, laces, sole of the foot).
Interventions
Drive by: I will pull a player out if i see them stuggling to keep the ball under control, then i can show them another demonstartion of how to keep the ball close to their feet and i can also reassure them to improve their confidence by telling them to stay calm and focus on that ball staying close to their feet.
Fly by: I will shout on to the practice to praise a good skill in the middle or good dribbling ability. I can also shout on to encourage players to run with the ball when i see space open up for them to do so.
Progressions:
1. When you take the ball into the middle zone, perform a skill or turn to exit to the left and then dribble out into the new lane and pass the ball to the next player.
2. Same applies but exit to the right instead.
3. Timed races with penalties for losing control of the ball by leaving the lane or bumping into another player.
Equipment:
. 4 footballs.
. At least 8 cones, better with more though to clearly outline the corridor at each side and both ways.
Area size:
. 2 20 yard lanes- 1 vertical, 1 horizontal.
