Angle Play Drill 1
Goalkeeper starts facing Server 1 between the flexi pole goal.
Server 2 is at the front of the goal with 6 footballs placed in an arc.
Server 1 continues to volley the soccer ball toward the GK to make w catches at face height. At any time, Server 2 can shout "Yes" meaning the GK has to spin, face play, and defend the goal from a strike from Server 2. Server 2 can place himself at any of the six balls to serve in a shot.
This means the goallkeeper has to find the server and adjust his positioning to suit that shot coming in.
Coaching Points
Goalkeeper has to turn quickly and find where server 2 is.
They have to position themselves in a way which gives the server the least amount of goal to hit. Meaning they have to be at the correct angle in their goal.
If the goalkeeper leaves too much space at one side, stop the practice and show them from the strikers point of view so they can see the space they are leaving.
Progressions
Alter the serve of Server 1 (e.g passing, dive left/right, high ball, scoops)
Change the distance of the footballs and the angle of them (e.g make footballs A and F even wider)

Angle Play Drill 2
Goalkeeper starts in the goal with two box's marked by the flexi poles just outside the area.
Inside the two box's a 2 v 1 takes place. Only one striker can break into the box and must shoot inside the shaded blue area. The defender can only defend between the flexi poles. One side goes and then the next.
Coaching Points
Goalkeeper has to prepare himself in the goal and have a good position.
Communicate with the defender and try and prevent the shot
Similar coaching points to the warm up and Drill 1.
Progressions
Can change to a 4 v2 and a striker from either side can break into the shaded area meaning the goalkeeper doesn't know what channel it will come from.
Add a goal at the halfway line and if the defenders win back the ball they can attack the second goal.

Game Related Practice
9 v 9 game
The game is played on a half pitch with a 9 v 9 set up. Each team can only score in the red shaded areas.
This means that the goalkeeper needs to defend shots at the angle throughout the whole game.
Coaching Points
These will be similar to the warm up and drill 1 and 2.
Try and not give any new coaching points during the game unless they are very important. Try and let the game flow as much as possible

Warm Up
Angle Play Warm Up
Goalkeeper starts in the centre of the goal.
Goalkeeper can start in any position (e.g: facing towards the goal, in a dive position, in a press up position etc)
3 servers are placed in front of the goal with a small gate to aim for in front of them.
The gate helps for the goalkeeper to know what angle he is at and his position in the goal.
The coach shouts either 1, 2 or 3 and the GK has to get set between the gate and make the save.
Coaching Points
Explain that the goalkeper has to be at the correct angle to cover the goal. Giving the striker as little goal as possible to aim for.
Imagining that a piece of string can go straight from the middle of the goal, through the goalkeepers legs and to the ball is a good guide as the positioning at the angle. The goalkeeper also has to play a few yards off their line.
Progression
Take away the gates so the goalkeeper has to know exactly where they are in the goal area.
