3 vs 2 transition part 1 attacking (20 mins)

Set up- 10-12 players

-half the field, box in the middle ofd the field 5 x10 yards

-fiels id split in two halves

-4 goals

Drill

- play starts from the end blue player, makes a pass out to one of the two defenders. The attacking red team that starts in the yellow box can put pressure on when the defender touches the ball.

- the defenders objectives is to quickly get the ball into the attacking players to create 3vs2. If it's not on the keep possesion until the opportunity presents itself.

- once ball is played in the attacking zone it becomes a 3vs2, quickly attack the goal and take advantage of the extra player. If a goal is scored, the BLUE attcking players must get back into the yellow box and wait till ball is played out from the red players

- anytime a goal is scored or ball goes out of bounds play starts from defensive zone,

- switch end player every 5 min or so.

Coaching Points-

- open up to receive the ball

- good first touch, positive touch to where you want to go

- quick decisions, move the ball quickly when you can

- attacking players are moving off the ball to get into open postions to receive the ball from ther defenders.

- open up the space

- be aware of offensive/defensive transition

- score

Same set up as page 1-

- forcing the player out wide

Drill

- defensive pressure starting with the striker

- if Striker A forces the player to go out wide, player B shifhts across to cut off the forward pass down the line. Players C drops in behind a little to cut off any posibilty of a long switch

Coaching Points-

- striker puts pressure on the ball

- players behind the ball react according to the striker movement as per above diagram

- prevent players from turning

- pressure

- don't dive in, contain player

Setup

- same as first 2 sessions

Drill

- if forcing player inside

- striker A puts pressure on the defender forcing him inside, player B stay just behind player A, player C drops back to cut off the long switch.

- if the ball is played across the stiker comes back across and applies pressue, the midfield players react according to the pressure the strikers puts on. Either forcing him wide, then react as per screen 2, or inside and react as per above.

- prevent players from turning
