Organization:

1. Open area.

2. Every player with a ball.

Instructions:

1. Players perform juggling challenge: bounce, kick, thigh, catch.

2. Players dribble in area after set time of juggling/freestyling.

3. Reinforce Messi/Ronaldo.

Coaching Points:

1. Head up.

2. Controlled touches.

3. Use both feet.

1. 20x20 area.

2. Players as shown.

Instructions:

1. Players in white dribble towards each other and perform move at halfway. Continue to opposite line.

2. Blue players repeat the process.

3. Moves to perform: scissors and/or step-over.

Coaching Points:

1. Head up to observe space.

2. Quality and weight of touches.

3. Timing and technical execution of scissors and step-over.

4. Technical execution of outside push pass:

* Use front foot to pass

* Non-kicking foot behind the ball

* Kicking foot: ankle locked, toe pointed down

* Contact foot: outside

* Contact ball: middle or inside

Progressions:

1. Players dribble into middle and pass with outside of foot to resting players.

Organization:

1. 20x20 area.

2. Players set up as shown.

Instructions:

1. Player 1B is live as soon as 1A touches the ball forward.

2. Player 1A looks to run ball across opposite endline.

3. Players 2A and 2B stay along outside for support.

4. Player with the ball can use outside support for wall pass.

5. Players rotate roles after 2-3 minutes. Ensure to change opponents.

Coaching Points:

1. Drive at speed to commit defender to ball.

2. Head up to observe space and options.

3. Decision-making: pass or use support as decoy.

4. Communication from support player.

5. Use support as decoy:

Using Step-Over

* Shape body/hips as if to pass with inside of foot

* Step over the ball to bait defender

* Take ball away in opposite direction

Using Scissors

* Shape body as if to pass with outside of foot

* Perform scissors move around the ball

* Take ball away in opposite direction

Organization:

1. 30x20 with 5yd wide channels.

2. Two goals.

3. Equal teams.

Instructions:

1. Teams play 3v3 to goal.

2. Players cannot get challenged/tackled inside the wide channels.

3. Players are allowed to dribble into the channel or pass to a teammate already in there.

Coaching Points:

1. Decision-making.

2. Ability to recognize teammates in space.

3. Attack space quickly.

4. Use of 1v1 situations.

5. Movement to create space - spatial awareness.
