During the session we talked to the players about moving the ball to move the opposition and controlling the tempo of the game. We used the final part of the practice to better illustrate this to the players.

One of the outside players now goes into the middle.
If there is a direct pass from the outside players to the inside red it should be attempted.

Start with 1 ball, all players are numbered and the ball has to be passed through the team in sequence.
The keepers can play with their feet if the ball comes to them on the ground or use their hands if it's in the air.
Players must be moving at all times.
Play with head up to scan for the next pass.
Communicate clearly.
Progressions
Add another ball (starts with players 1 & 5)
Add a third ball (start with 1, 5 & 10)

Players start "locked" into the boxes 1 v 1 with a floater.
Once a team completes 3 passes they can break out into the rest of the pitch and a normal game takes place. When the attack comes to a natural end, player return to the boxes.
Progressions
Allow movement between the boxes (players must stay with their man).
Remove the boxes and play a directional game.

Reduce the area and remove the goals.
The idea behind the game is to reward the team that can keep possession by moving the oposition around.
10 passes equals 1 goal. (Reduce the number according to the ability of your players).

Warm Up - Rondo (15 mins)
Use the centre circle of a full size pitch.
15 players including 2 keepers played a 12 v 3 rondo.
If a mistake is made, the player who makes it and the players either side of him change with the 3 defenders.
If any of the 3 defenders are nutmegged, they all stay in for another round
