With the blue in possession in the shaded area, the Red 9 presses to try to stop the forward pass.
Red 10 would position between the passer and the first centre half to try to force a hasty clearance or back pass to the keeper.
The "Diamond" stays intact but moves across the pitch to condense the space.
The back 4 shuffle across to keep the distances between the units compact.
The GK sweeps behind the back 4.

With the Reds building an attack from the middle of the pitch, both 2 & 3 can push forward as 4 will sit and protect and can cover if there is a counter attack down the flanks.

Some thoughts on this formation.
1. Gives additional "lines" in both attack & defence.
2. Passing triangles all over the pitch (options for the player in possession).
3. Allows the team to be centrally compact.
4. Easy to slot into a midfield 4.
