Introduction to throw ins

To set the exersize up stagger the goals as shown in the diagram.

The players line up on the outside of the grid as if ball has gone out of bounds. One player should be on the field ready to receive the throw. The first player on the outside throws the ball to the player on the field. The player on the field receives the ball and dribbles and scores on goal. The red player would collect his ball and move to the blue line and the blue player would collect his ball and move to the red line. After the throw has thrown the ball he moves to become the player receiving the throw.

Similair set up to the original game but now the starting position is far away from the goals we are attacking.

Two players should be on the field ready, one to receive the throw and one in open space.. The first player on the outside throws the ball to the player on the field. The player on the field receives the ball and passes to their team mate. Their team mate can then score a goal. The player who receives the throw joins line B and the shooter joins line A.

Exactly the same as the previous exersize but now we have play going in two different directions, Can blue score without red getting in their way? Can red score faster than blue?

The two lines for each team can be condensed into one. The throw becomes the receiver, the receiver becomes the shooter and the shotter gather their ball and joins the back of their line.

At this point players do not defend the just concentrate on scoring with their own ball.

Introduction to throw ins

Exactly the same as the previous exersize but now after the player receives the throw and passes to their team mate they try to defend the other team and a 1v1 begins.

Focus:

Can we accurately pass the ball to ensure aour team mate scores a good goal.

Can the defender recover to a position to "seal off the goal"
