Side Steps
Equipment:
- Several balls for serving with the coach
- Cones or agility poles laid on the ground
Organization:
- Goalie starts at one end and double steps in between set of poles without crossing over feet
- As goalie reaches end throw or shoot ball at them
- Repeat this several times making sure goalie is recentered over their feet when catching the ball - not still in motion or learning in any direction
Key Coaching Points:
- Stance when catching ball should be shoulder width apart
- SLIGHT bend in knee and also bent at hips
- Shoulders straight over toes
