This practise is a possession session but can also be used as a fitness session too. The player with the ball must have an option left and right to pass too. The ball cannot be passed across to the opposite side.
If the player with ball passes to the left, the player to the right now has to move to support the player receiving the pass, they can run diagonally to the supporting line. But must watch the ball just in case the player receiving the ball plays it back to the original player. In which case they will need to return to their previous position.
Progression 1, If the defender in the middle touches the ball they swap with the player who passed or did not control the ball.
Progression 2. The player receicing the ball must receive the ball on the further foot from the player passing the ball. If they don't they swap with the defender. This make the defender look at the ball and position of the player to determine where it is going.
Progression 3. The player receiving the ball must now play with multiple touches before releasing the ball under pressure instead of 1 or 2 touches
