Player 2 attacks 1v1 player 2 and tries to dribble or pass the ball through the 2 cone goal along the touch line
use mini goals behind space if available but not neccessary
Focus on Player 1 (wingbacks) closing speed and defensive positioning. Forcing the attacker to the outside and denying a cross.
If the defender wins possession they have 1-2 touches to pass the ball up and out through the stakes or into mini goals

Functional Training for Center Backs
30x20 Space
Keeper Chips or drives the ball to one of the forwards
Centerbacks must start inside the 18 yard box
For the first few sequences have the attackers play the ball back and forth to work on defensive positioning prior to attacking
Use Freeze stops to show and teach defensive positioning
When defenders win possession they need to shoot on small goals within 1-2 touches
This encourages center backs to clear the ball out and up as well as finding their teammates
Progression*
Encourage attackers to use overlaps, through balls and try and play 2v1 in space creating imbalances
If defenders hold position encourage attackers to shoot from distance.
Keeper communication is really important here

Coordinating Movment and Communication of the back four (15 mins)
Players 1 and 2 pass the ball between them. Holding the ball for approximately 10 seconds to allow the defense to set up
Player 3 is the 1st defender
Player 4 is the 2nd defender
As the ball is passes back and fourth players 3 and 4 need to communication and make sure 1 pushed up to ball and the other falls back off the hip to provide support
Players 5-8 move to ball side of their "mark" or pole
after about 30-40 seconds Players 1,2 go to the end of the line, players 3,4 turn into players 1,2 and everyone up steps up.
Focus on quick footwork, defensive positioning
Awareness
Communication as not all can see the ball and encourage players 3-4 who are working the hardest
